Michal Honkys, born 28.07.1976 in the Czech Republic. In 2007 he completed Ba Hons Photography & Digital Imaging at Thames Valley University with First Class Degree. His final project - documentary series "Ostrava" - was highly commented and positively received at the Undergraduate End of Year Show and few of his prints were bought by art collectors. In December 2007 he was announced a winner of the prestigious Nikon Discovery Awards (click to read an official press release) for the very project. The work was also selected and displayed in the Photographers Gallery in London.
In 2008 Michal used the funds from Nikon to finance his long, environmental documentary project in Kazakhstan. He worked with various environmental specialists, journalists and local people to capture the levels of our reality we are creating and living. His work is

now in the final stage of editing and will be available to see soon.
Michal's love for our planet and its inhabitants is reflected in his life and work; critical, suggestive and active, believing the change for better comes from our decisions, deeds and love.
Michal is available for short or long term assignments in documentary, editorial or corporate field, where the high standard and reliability is desired.
