Just a few words...
“Loneliness“ is one of the first serious stories I have worked on. The strong feeling of "unsettled" memories from my childhood took me back home, to the little town of Frydlant near Ostrava, the Czech Republic. I was to photograph my father, divorced for past twenty or so years, living mostly alone, because none of his partners were able to cope with his weakness to alcohol. He was and is a labourer, for decades serving resignedly the communist system, finding it rather difficult to cope with the changes brought by the fall of the iron curtain. He is, by all means, a good man. To me he is my father, who I love. I love him for taking me to the mountains when I was hardly two years old and was not yet able to walk properly. I love him for not being obsessed by parenting too much while playing all sort of games days and nights in our

cottage. I - strangely - thank him for being weak to alcohol. I observed carefully, listened to the arguments and promises given to my mother and later partners and knew I will not be the same. And as time shows, I am not following his path. I took the better part from him, the love and connection with nature, the early morning search for mushrooms or just a stroll in the mountains. Like him, I am not afraid of any job and have some sort of sense of humour. Most people wrote him off but he is well rooted in his life. But enough of memories and philosophies. Lets unveil this little story of an aging divorced man and his personal struggle against illness and desperation as well as his hope for a better future beyond the wounds left by the past life under the Communist rule.
